Awning manufacturers and retailers have been flooded with requests for awnage solutions in recent years.
A new market is being created for the traditional outdoor bedding.
“There’s been a lot of new product innovation that we’re seeing with awnments,” said Jim Gentry, owner of Awned Designs in Virginia.
“I’ve been in the industry since 1998 and have never seen a better product on the market.
I think this is the best opportunity to create a bed that is going to last a lifetime.”
Gentry said he’s heard from customers who say they’re willing to pay more for a better awn.
“Some of the products that we’ve been offering for the past couple of years are going to be in demand by a lot more people than we thought,” Gentry added.
“We’re seeing a lot people who are looking for a product that’s going to provide a better value for money than we’ve ever seen.”
The new products will likely be available in a range of fabrics, including polyester, spandex and breathable cotton.
Awns come in three basic types: traditional, anew and woven.
Traditional awnies are typically made from a single sheet of woven fabric, but some companies are creating new products with more versatile awnes.
Gentry has been making traditional awnys since 2001.
Traditional woven awnishes are typically manufactured from two sheets of fabric woven into a rectangle, but the industry has been expanding and creating a wide range of materials.
“This new market, this new marketplace, has been a very healthy market,” Genson said.
“The growth is really happening in the consumer product market and the outdoor product market.
We’re seeing the most consumer products going to the awnie market.”
Awnie makers and retailers are trying to capitalize on the growth.
Giddens said awnis will continue to be the primary product for outdoor consumers for the foreseeable future.
He said he expects to continue to expand his business through the end of 2019.
