President Donald Trump told the American Israel Public Affairs Committee that a deal to reduce Iran’s stockpile of uranium has been “blessed” by the nuclear deal with six world powers.
“It is the best deal I have seen, frankly,” Trump said on “Fox & Hannity” on Thursday, before a meeting with his National Security Council.
“We’ve made it so that we’re able to do a lot of things that we weren’t able to before.”
The president has said the deal, which will be finalized later this week, will reduce Iran “more than 50 percent,” and said it will “put an end to” Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Trump’s statement came as he delivered a speech on Iran in New York, where he defended the Iran deal, and said Iran “is a rogue nation that cannot be trusted with a nuclear weapon.”
Trump told The Associated Press that the deal will “cut down on Iran’s enrichment of uranium, but also their ability to make weapons-grade plutonium and other materials that they can develop, and the ability to build their weapons-building capacity.”
