New construction projects are being planned to replace awnings at Ravi Shankar Vihar, the world’s tallest building, with a new structure.
Ravi Shanker Vihar will have a new tower structure, Ravi Vihar Tower, at a cost of Rs 9,000 crore.
The project is being constructed in two phases.
The first phase is expected to be completed in 2021-22, with completion scheduled for 2024-25.
The second phase, which will be completed by 2024-26, is to be constructed at a later date.
Ravindra Raju, the project developer, told TOI that they have started constructing the tower structure.
“The tower is being built by us for Rs 9 lakh crore,” he said.
“We have already started constructing it.”
The Ravi Raghav Das project was initiated by the Planning Commission in March last year, which said that the tower would be constructed from scratch, but would include a new roofing material, which could last 10 years.
It had also suggested a new building design to replace the existing roofing.
“The new roof will be made of a new material.
We have chosen the new material because it will be more durable,” said Ravi Das, adding that it will cover a large area of the tower and be made from recycled materials.
Ravi Vasudevan, the architect, said the tower will be built using steel and concrete as the main building materials.
The tower will have two floors, and the ground floor will be occupied by the parking space.
Raveena Das, another architect, agreed.
“I am happy that we are getting a tower structure in the name of Ravi Ram.
It will be a great contribution to the city.
RvAawning is very important,” she said.
The tower will cost Rs 9.75 lakh crore, with the total project cost of the project coming to Rs 13,000 crores.
Raveena added that it would be interesting to know the exact cost of Rv Awning, which she said could be as low as Rs 5 lakh crore.
