Awnings and backyards have been used to sell goods for a long time.
But it was a new idea that started to catch on in the early 1900s.
“It was just something that happened that really intrigued us, and I think we were the first ones to do it,” she says.
She and her husband, Don, were looking for ways to make money, so they bought a sawmill at the end of their driveway.
It took them four months to turn the sawmill into a garage, but they did it all in a day.
After they had finished their garage sale, they put up a roof and made a living from it.
Awnings were just the first of many ideas that led to Awning Ideas, which started in Melbourne in the 1970s.
Awners sold everything from handbags to car parts and even toilet paper.
The business was initially just a hobby, but it was later expanded into an online business, and eventually Awnerys now has over 300,000 customers worldwide.
Nowadays, Awnedings has offices across Australia and New Zealand, and a number of branches in the United States and Canada.
A wide range of products are sold, including wall art, vinyl and wood goods.
As well as building and renovating their own home, Aewerys also offer a wide range to their clients, with a range of home décor, furniture and other accessories.
“There’s nothing quite like buying a new car, or a new sofa, or some new kitchen equipment,” says Ms Awnes.
This is where we are, in the world of Awneys, which means we have more ideas than you can shake a stick at.
